Chris de Bruin and Lourens Muller
I am a member of the South African Fancy Pigeon Association and live in Pretoria.
I grew up with pigeons and joined SAFPA in 1994 and specialize in utility breeds. My main breeds are Cauchois, Strassers, American Giant Runts, Carneaus, and Gross Mondains. During the 2004 National Championship Show I exhibited the Champion Bird, as well as the Champion Young Bird on show with a bronze tri-colour Cauchois cock. This bronze tri-colour Cauchois was the first pigeon, from the so called rare breeds, to be awarded Champion Bird on a National Championship Show.
During 2004 I helped “Bart” and the film crew of 7de Laan on SABC2 with the do's and don’ts for the breeding and showing of pigeons. Two Polish Lynx, namely Breëbors and Bekkie, appeared on the set of 7de Laan, for several months.
I have been a member of the Northern-Transvaal Executive Committee from 1996 to date and National Treasurer of SAFPA from 2001 to date. During 2005 I received full National Colours in the categories for Breeding, Judging and Administration.
